Laura Caroline Spell begins her second year as Campbell’s Athletic Media Services Assistant. She serves as the primary contact for the CU women’s soccer, wrestling, and women’s lacrosse teams.
A native of Autryville, N.C., Spell graduated from the University of North Carolina in 2012, where she earned a B.A. in Exercise and Sport Science, and the School of Journalism and Mass Communication Certificate in Sports Communication.
While attending Carolina, Spell served as a student assistant in the Athletic Communications office, serving as the contact for the women’s gymnastics team. She also assisted with several other teams, including volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, football, men’s and women’s golf, and baseball. During her time with Athletic Communications, she assisted at several ACC tournaments as well as the second and third rounds of the 2012 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament in Greensboro, N.C.
Spell also worked in several other facets of the UNC Athletics Department. She was an intern for the Rams Club, helping in the first year of Tar Heel Athletic Hospitality. She also volunteered in the marketing department and was the sports marketing chair of the Carolina Athletic Association. She spent a year as a director for publicity with Carolina Fever, the official student-run fan club for UNC Athletics, as well.
