Conway, S.C. - Ana Castillo went a combined 6-0 as Campbell finished out its fall schedule with a combined 13-19 record at the CCU Battle at the Beach November 3-4.
The Camels posted an 8-15 record on the singles side and tabbed a 5-4 mark in doubles action on the weekend in a tournament that featured opponents from UNCG, UNCW and host school Coastal Carolina.
Castillo posted a 3-0 mark on the singles side with two opening day wins over UNCG's Blaine Boaz 6-4, 6-0 and UNCW's Xandra Fougner 8-4. She she closed out singles play with a 7-6 (7), 6-1 win over Coastal Carolina's Iryna Vardanian.
Castillo teamed up with
Georgina Segarra to claim a perfect 3-0 record in doubles action. The duo defeated Coastal Carolina pair Somer Dalla-Bona/Natalie Wall 6-3 on the opening day.
The two went on to defeat UNCW's Thai Thompson/Xandra Fougner 6-1 and UNCG's Corinne Blythe/Emily Ory, 6-3, on day two to close out the event.
Lou Regen and
Lea Cutura also teamed up to post a 2-0 mark in doubles action. The duo opened Friday's doubles play with a 7-5 win over Coastal Carolina pair Jessie Mount/Alexa Tiefal before Saturday's win over UNCG's Brianna Gomez/Sophia Adams, 6-2.
The Camels concluded the fall season over the weekend but return to their spring schedule after the new year.
