BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell's
Sydney Etheridge has been named the Big South's Women's Lacrosse Freshman of the Week.
Etheridge gathered a season-high 13 saves with a ground ball in Campbell's thrilling 13-12 win over Furman last Friday. The freshman posted seven saves, plus a ground ball in a tight second half.
The game featured six tie scores, including four in that second stanza. Etheridge limited Furman to just two goals on 10 free position shots on the day.
The award is the first career Big South weekly honor for Etheridge, and the first for a Camel this season.
A Waxhaw, N.C. native, Etheridge owns 54 saves in eight games, making five starts for the Camels.
Campbell opens Big South play Saturday, March 31 at Gardner-Webb.
