BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell's Ryan Thompson has been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Mid-Season Stopper of the Year Watch List, while Brent Graham is listed on the initial Brooks Wallace Watch List.
Thompson is one of 51 on the NCBWA Stopper of the Year list, while Graham made the cut of 27 on the Brooks Wallace list.
The NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award is given to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I baseball, while the Brooks Wallace Award is given to the nation's top shortstop.
Thompson, a junior righthander, is 4-0 with seven saves this season, also carrying a 0.94 ERA in a team-high 22 appearances. The Turner, Ore. native has allowed only five earned runs in 47 2/3 innings, striking out 39 with just 10 walks. The Camel closer ranks sixth in the country in ERA, while standing 21st in hits allowed per nine innings at 5.66.
Graham, meanwhile, hits .389 with 43 runs scored this season. The senior shortstop adds 34 RBI with two home runs, eight doubles and three triples, taking 13 stolen bases. The Portland, Ore. native's 10 bunt base hits leads the team, along with his .528 on-base percentage.
The NCBWA Stopper of the Year will be announced during the 2013 College World Series.
The Brooks Wallace Award, sponsored by Mizuno, will be presented during the College Baseball Hall of Fame's Night of Champions on June 29 in Lubbock, Texas.
