BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Rising Campbell senior right-handed pitcher Ryan Koopman became the Camels' second summer collegiate all-star of 2013, earning the nod in the Great Lakes League.
A native of Tipp City, Ohio, Koopman is playing this summer for the Dayton Docs, and will play on the GLSCL's North All-Star squad. Koopman is one of six Docs on the team.
The GLSCL All-Star Game will be played July 10 in Cincinnati, Ohio at Western Hills High School.
In 10 appearances, Koopman owns a 0.67 ERA with a 1-1 record and two saves. The righthander has fanned 14 in 13 1/3 innings, allowing just a single earned run on seven hits, with only one going for extra bases.
As a junior in 2013, Koopman pitched in seven games for the Camels, holding a 3.12 ERA, striking out eight in 8 2/3 innings.
Campbell teammate Matt Nadolski was also named to the Coastal Plain League's West Division All-Star team last week.
Koopman and Nadolski are two of seven Camels participating in collegiate baseball leagues this summer.
In addition to Nadolski, three other Camels are suiting up in the Coastal Plain League, including Heath Bowers (Gastonia Grizzlies), Coley Thompkins (Wilmington Sharks) and Elijah Trail (Petersburg Generals).
