BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell hits the road for the first time this season, traveling to Georgia Southern for a two game midweek series, March 7-8.

Campbell is 5-5 on the season after dropping 2-of-3 to Ohio State over the weekend. The Camels took game one of the series 7-2 before falling 7-1 and 7-6. Redshirt freshman Matthew Barefoot was 8-for-11 (.727) at the plate with a homer and three doubles against the Buckeyes, knocking in two and scoring once.
For the season, Barefoot hits a team-high .432 with five RBI and four runs scored, also leading the team with seven doubles. Jeff Hahs adds a .382 average with 12 runs scored and eight RBI, while Drew Butler owns a team-best 13 runs and 10 stolen bases, adding a .378 average. Cole Hallum has driven in a team-high 12.
On the mound, Tyson Messer is 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA in three appearances. The sophomore has tossed 13 innings with 18 strikeouts, holding opponents to a .098 average. Allan Winans is also 2-0 on the season, throwing eight innings with a 1.12 ERA.
Georgia Southern is 5-6 overall coming off a series at Memphis where the Eagles fell in 2-of-3.
Mitchell Golden hits .396 for GSU, scoring a team-best 12 runs, while Ryan Cleveland has driven in 16 on three home runs, batting .389. On the mound, Connor Simmons is 1-0 with an unblemished ERA in 8 1/3 innings over six relief appearances, adding a save.
The Eagles hold a 9-0 record against Campbell in the all-time series, but the teams have not squared off since 1990.
Campbell returns to Jim Perry Stadium for a three game weekend series against Evansville, March 10-12.
