BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Following its first road trip of the season, Campbell returns home to Jim Perry Stadium, hosting Evansville in a three-game series.
The set begins on Friday at 6 p.m., with a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. The series was originally scheduled to span three days, but was realigned to avoid inclement weather.
The Camels are 5-7 on the season, dropping four in a row after winning the Ohio State series opener last weekend. CU fell 8-2 and 9-8 in its road debut during the midweek at Georgia Southern Tuesday and Wednesday.
Redshirt freshman Matthew Barefoot, the reigning Big South Player of the Week, comes into the series hitting .409 with seven RBI and nine extra-base hits. The Dunn, N.C. native is batting .565 (13-for-23) on his current six game hitting streak, adding six RBI, four doubles and two home runs.
Evansville is 4-8 on the season coming off a 6-1 midweek win over Austin Peay. The Purple Aces split a four-game home series with Milwaukee over the weekend.
Trey Hair leads UE with nine RBI and nine runs scored, hitting .320 for the season with five doubles and two home runs. Stewart Nelson also bats .320 with five RBI and six runs. On the mound, Patrick Schnieders is 1-1 with a 1.53 ERA in three starts.
Campbell and Evansville will be meeting for the first time on the diamond.
The Camels will continue their homestand March 14-15, hosting Rider before heading out on an eight-game road swing.
