BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell begins an eight game road swing, heading to the Richmond Spider Invitational this weekend.

The Camels will take on Michigan State at 10 a.m. in the tournament opener Friday, March 17, then Cornell at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Campbell will square off with a host Richmond on Sunday at 2 p.m. All games will be played at Pitt Field.

Live stats will be available for all three games, with video coverage on Sunday against the host Spiders. All game links are available at GoCamels.com.

Campbell is 7-10 on the season after a midweek split with Rider.

Redshirt freshman Matthew Barefoot, the Big South's Freshman of the Week, extended his hit streak to eight games last weekend, batting .450 for the week with eight RBI and four extra-base hits. The Dunn, N.C. native bats .431 with 17 RBI, 11 runs and 13 extra-base hits for the season.

Jeff Hahs also hits .405, going 4-for-4 in Wednesday's loss, while Drew Butler is batting .351 with 17 stolen bases and 23 runs scored. Cole Hallum adds 14 RBI for the Camels.

Tyson Messer has led the Camels' on the mound, going 3-0 with a 2.14 ERA in five appearances, including two starts. The sophomore right-hander owns 24 strikeouts in 21 innings, holding opponents to a .130 batting average.

Michigan State is 9-4 on the season, dropping three straight at No. 9 Clemson (9-2) and at No. 10 South Carolina (3-2, 5-2) after winning nine of its first 10 outings. Marty Bechina paces the Spartans, hitting .380 with 11 RBI and four home runs. Left-hander Alex Troop is 2-1 on the season with a 1.96 ERA.

Cornell heads into the weekend at 4-2 after winning both its opening series at Navy and George Mason. Dale Wickham leads the way with a .519 average (14-for-27), adding five RBI. Justin Lewis will start on the mound for the Big Red, carrying a 0-1 record with a 9.82 ERA in two appearances.

Richmond is 6-9 for the year after falling in the series finale against Youngstown State (8-5). The Spiders took games one and two of the series 7-1 and 5-2 (10 innings). Daniel Brumbaugh bats .344 with a team-best 11 RBI on 11 extra-base hits. Layne Looney is 1-1 on the mound with a 4.32 ERA in five starts.

Next up for the Camels will be a Tuesday, March 21 trip to North Carolina State. Campbell begins Big South play at Gardner-Webb on March 24.
