Camels host UNC Asheville in Big South series

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell returns to Jim Perry Stadium, hosting UNC Asheville in a Big South weekend series, April 21-23.

The series begins Friday at 6 p.m., followed by a 3 p.m. first pitch Saturday. Sunday's finale will begin at 2 p.m.

The Camels (17-20, 5-7 Big South) are fresh off a 4-2 midweek win at North Carolina Central on Tuesday, snapping a five game losing streak.

Redshirt freshman outfielder Matthew Barefoot owns a team-high .364 average and 37 RBI for the Camels, adding seven home runs and 15 doubles. Senior Drew Butler also bats .301, remaining the NCAA's stolen bases leader with 27 through 37 games.

Jeff Hahs and Cole Hallum each add 33 RBI for Campbell. Hahs bats .328 with a team-best eight home runs, while Hallum is batting .278 with seven homers.

Right-hander Alex Yarem leads the Camels on the mound with a 2-0 record and a 3.40 ERA. Harry Thomas is also 2-1 with a 4.08 ERA, while Ryan Kirk is 3-4 on the season.

The Bulldogs are 15-22 on the season with a 5-7 mark in Big South play following a midweek split against USC Upstate (W 8-4) and Tennessee (L 5-2). Asheville dropped 2-of-3 at High Point in its last Big South series.

Danny Wilson leads the Bulldogs on the season with a .283 average, knocking in 25 runs, while Brandon Lankford hits .244 with seven home runs and 28 RBI. Spencer Orr is 2-3 with a 2.67 ERA in nine starts.

Campbell owns a 32-15 all-time mark against Asheville, meeting the Bulldogs for the first time since 2014.

The Camels will host UNCW on Tuesday, April 25 before heading to North Carolina on Wednesday, April 26.
