LYNCHBURG, VA. – Cole Hallum homered twice and drove in five to lead Campbell over Liberty 7-4 Saturday, evening the Big South series.

Campbell picked up the win, moving to 21-24 overall and 7-10 in Big South play, while Liberty dropped to 27-17 on the season and 13-7 in conference games.

Hallum's first homer of the night led off the second and evened the game at 1-1 after Jake Barbee gave Liberty the early lead with a one out RBI double.

With a 3-2 Campbell lead in the fifth, the redshirt senior launched a grand slam, putting the Camels up 7-2 with his second home run of the night, notching his third multi-homer game of the season.

The grand slam fueled a five run fifth inning for the Camels, following a Matthew Barefoot RBI double that gave CU the lead. Campbell sent 10 to the plate in the inning.

Hallum added a single in the fourth, going 3-for-5 in the win.

Erik Dowse (1-2) picked up the win for the Camels in relief, going 3 1/3 innings with two runs on two hits with four strikeouts and four walks. Wyatt Tyson earned the save, his second of the season, working two scoreless innings with a hit, two strikeouts and a walk.

Jackson Bertsch (2-4) was charged with the loss, allowing seven runs on six hits with five strikeouts and three walks. Cody Gamble, Shane Quarterley and Zander Clouse combined for 4 2/3 scoreless out of the bullpen for the Flames, scattering three hits and striking out five.

Barefoot also went 3-for-4 with a RBI and two runs for the Camels.

Eric Grabowski led the Flames at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs. The Liberty designated hitter lifted a solo home run in the fourth, tying the game at 2-2, then notched a RBI double in the fifth to cut into the Campbell lead.

Payton Scarbrough's sacrifice fly capped the two run Liberty fifth. Dowse sat down eight of his next 11 batters after the Grabowski double, and Tyson stranded his only two baserunners, retiring the Flames in order in the ninth for the save.

The third and final game of the series is set for a 2 p.m. first pitch Sunday. Liberty claimed Friday's opener 4-3.

The Camels head to Duke (Tuesday, May 9) and North Carolina Central (Wednesday, May 10) next week. CU has one home series remaining, wrapping up the regular season May 18-20 against Longwood.
