BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell will travel to the Bull City twice in the midweek, taking on Duke and North Carolina Central.
The Camels (21-25) face off with Duke (23-23) at Jack Coombs Field on Tuesday, May 9 at 3 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for a 6 p.m. start, but was moved to a 3 p.m. start to avoid inclement weather.
CU returns to Durham on Wednesday, May 10, visiting NCCU (22-27) at the historic Durham Athletic Park. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
Matthew Barefoot leads the Camels on the season, batting .368 with 42 RBI on 29 extra-base hits, including 21 doubles and eight home runs. The Dunn, N.C. native was named the Big South's Freshman of the Week on Monday, batting .600 (9-for-15) with a home run, four doubles and four runs, picking up a hit in all four Campbell games.
Jeff Hahs adds a .331 average with nine home runs and 38 RBI, while Cole Hallum hits .288 with 10 home runs and 47 RBI. Hallum belted two home runs, including a grand slam, driving in five in Campbell's 7-4 win at Liberty on Saturday.
Drew Butler remains the nation's leader in stolen bases with 33, adding a .282 average with 45 runs scored.
Duke dropped an ACC series at Notre Dame over the weekend. Griffin Conine bats .331 for Duke, adding 12 home runs and 50 RBI, while Jimmy Herron hits .304 with 32 RBI. Ryan Day is also 3-3 with a 2.76 ERA. The Blue Devils took this season's earlier meeting 12-10 in Buies Creek.
NCCU has won back to back MEAC series, most recently taking two out of three at Florida A&M. The Eagles are led by Corey Joyce, batting .348 with five home runs and 40 RBI this season. Carter Williams tacks on a .350 average, scoring 41 times. Campbell won its previous matchup with NCCU 4-2.
Campbell heads to Winthrop this weekend, May 12-14, for its Big South road finale.
