DURHAM, N.C. --- Griffin Conine went 2-for-3 at the plate and drove in four runs to power Duke to a 9-0 win over Campbell Tuesday at Jack Coombs Field.
Duke improved to 24-23 on the season while Campbell fell to 21-26. Blue Devil starter Adam Laskey (4-3) earned the win on the mound after retiring all nine Camels he faced in the first three innings of work.
As a unit, the Blue Devil pitching staff limited the Camels to just two hits and struck out six. Kevin Lewallyn earned the save in three innings in relief with a pair of strikeouts, a hit and a walk.
Campbell starter Phil Stokes (0-1) was tagged with the loss after allowing five runs, four earned, on four hits and two walks in 3 2/3 innings of work. He recorded four strikeouts.
The Blue Devils plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the first before Conine cranked a three-run homer in the bottom of the second to make it 5-0 Duke. Conine added a RBI-single in a three-run Duke sixth.
Zack Kone went 3-for-4 at the plate and scored two runs for Duke. Michael Smicklas tallied a pair of hits in three plate appearances and drove in a pair.
Cole Hallum finished 1-for-4 for the Camels while Adam Wyse recorded a hit and a walk. Jack Yusko didn't allow a run and recorded a strikeout in 1 2/3 innings in relief while Wyatt Tyson struck out two in an inning of work.
The Camels will head back to Durham on Wednesday to take on North Carolina Central at 6 p.m. Campbell will jump back into Big South Conference play this weekend, May 12-14, with a three-game series at Winthrop.
