BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell will play at Appalachian State in football in Boone, N.C. in 2014, officially announced today by Director of Athletics Bob Roller.

The Mountaineers will host the Camels on Sept. 6, 2014 at Kidd Brewer Stadium one week after ASU makes its FBS debut at Michigan.

"Playing at Appalachian State will be a great challenge for our team next season, competing against our program's first FBS opponent," said Campbell head coach Mike Minter. "Appalachian State is a great program with a great tradition of success. This is another step for our program as it continues to advance and grow."

The meeting between Campbell and App. State will be the first in the Camels' modern era of football, with one previous meeting on record from 1931. Campbell relaunched its football program in 2008.

The Camels will also take on Charlotte and Charleston Southern in 2014, opening the season against the 49ers on a Thursday night, Aug. 28 at Barker-Lane Stadium. Campbell will play at CSU, marking the third scholarship program on the Camels' 2014 nonconference schedule.
