Camels’ preseason camp nears end, Barker-Lane Stadium construction continues

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – As Barker-Lane Stadium continues to rise, Campbell's 2013 preseason training camp nears its end.

The Camels, who have shifted practice from 9:25 a.m. to 4 p.m. due to the fall semester beginning on Wednesday, worked on Ed Gore Field Thursday afternoon.

The Camels went through 7-on-7, situational scrimmaging, position drills and special teams, while continuing conditioning work and installing the new playbook.

Campbell will close out preseason work with CU Fan Appreciation Day on Saturday, Aug. 24. Gates open at 10 a.m. with a scrimmage set for noon.

After the scrimmage, fans will have a chance to meet the team and coaching staff, as well as tour the Campbell Football facilities. Free 2013 Campbell Football schedule posters will also be available.

The event caps off a month-long preseason training camp for the Camels before beginning the 2013 regular season.

Campbell announced Mike Minter as its second head modern era football coach on November 27. Minter officially announced his first coaching staff on Dec. 20.

The 2013 season will begin on Aug. 31 at Charlotte. The team's six-game home schedule will start with UVa.-Wise on Sept. 7 at 6 p.m.
