Football begins spring practice Tuesday

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell begins its 2014 spring practice period Tuesday with the first of 15 sessions.

Two scrimmages are scheduled for the spring before the team's Monday night, April 7 Spring Game at 7:00 p.m. at Barker-Lane Stadium.

The Camels kick off the 2014 season, its seventh in the Division I era, Thursday, Aug. 28 at home against Charlotte.

The Camels went 3-9 overall in 2013, finishing the year with a 47-14 win at in-state and Pioneer Football League rival Davidson. Campbell set 21 team offensive records in Mike Minter's first season at the helm, including rushing yards (2,800), passing yards (2,436), and total offense (5,236), four defensive, including sacks (27), and three on special teams.

Senior Kurt Odom became the Camels' first All-America selection, earning Third Team honors at fullback from the Sports Network. Odom, a Robbinsville, N.C. native, was also named First Team All-PFL while seven Camels took home honorable mention nods. Odom, Adam Lutz, Ben Bolling and Hunter Somerville were First Team Academic All-PFL selections, while Michael Rudisill and Lucas Smith both earned Second Team honors.
