Football 2014 home promotions schedule announced

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell has announced its 2014 home promotions schedule for football.

The Camels will open the 2014 season with the first of six home contests at Barker-Lane Stadium on Thursday night, Aug. 28 against Charlotte. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Campbell returns home on Sept. 27 for another game under the lights in Buies Creek, hosting Valparaiso at 6 p.m. Cool off at this Family Weekend game will free Campbell handheld fans.

At Campbell's noon kickoff against Butler on Oct. 11 fans are encouraged to wear pink for the Camels for a Cure game for breast cancer awareness. Donations will be accepted and limited edition Campbell Football items will be auctioned to benefit the Harnett Health Foundation. Free pink rally towels will be available.

On Oct. 18, CU will celebrate its 2014 Homecoming, hosting in-state and PFL rival Davidson. Fans are encouraged to attend the CU Homecoming Fan Fest area featuring inflatables, games, music and more.

Nov. 1 will be Military Appreciation Day at Barker-Lane Stadium as the Camels host Stetson at 1 p.m. All active military and veterans will receive free admission to the game.

The team's home finale, Nov. 8 against Missouri Baptist, will be Take a Kid to the Game Day. All youth 14 and under will receive free admission with the purchase of an accompanying adult ticket.

The Camels went 3-9 overall in 2013, finishing the year with a 47-14 win at Davidson. Campbell set 21 offensive team records in Mike Minter's first season as head coach, including rushing yards (2,800), passing yards (2,436), and total offense (5,236), four defensive, including sacks (27), and three on special teams.

Senior Kurt Odom became Campbell's first football All-America selection, earning Third Team honors from the Sports Network. Odom was also named First Team All-PFL while seven Camels took home honorable mention nods. Odom, along with Adam Lutz, Ben Bolling and Hunter Somerville were also First Team Academic All-PFL. Michael Rudisill and Lucas Smith both earned Second Team honors.
