BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Chris Clemons scored 27 points and Campbell never trailed in a 92-60 win over Allen Monday night at Gore Arena.
Marcus Burk added 12 points and Damontez Oliver had 11 for the Camels (3-3), who jumped in front 9-0 and led by as many over the NAIA Yellow Jackets (3-5). Khadre' Lane chipped in nine points off the bench while Andrew Eudy matched his career high with 12 rebounds for the Camels, who shot 57 percent from the field (33-58), 63 percent (19-30) in the second half.
Clemons, the Big South's leading scorer (23.2), turned in his fifth-straight 20-plus point effort by hitting 8-of-13 shots, including 3-of-7 treys, and 8-of-9 from the line. He dealt a career-high five assists and grabbed a season-best six rebounds in just 27 minutes.
The Camels led 45-23 at the half, thanks in part of Clemons' 3-pointer from half court just before the horn sounded.
Burk knocked down 5-of-9 shots and Oliver hit 4-of-6 from the floor for the Camels, who built a double-figure lead on the strength of an 18-2 run midway through the first half.
In the second period, Cory Gensler, Clemons, Oliver and Burk hit four-straight three-pointers to conclude a 19-3 burst and put the Camels ahead 72-35 with 11:50 to go. Burk's second trey of the night pushed the margin to 79-40 with 9:11 to play.
The Camels finished with a 49-26 edge on the boards and hit 11 three-pointers in 27 attempts (.407) to win their second-straight game.
Sherrod Wade led Allen with 20 points; Demetrius Richardson added 12 and Donald Marshall Jr. 11. The Yellow Jackets hit just 32 percent (20-63) of their shots and only 4-of-20 beyond the arc.
Campbell continues play in the Holy City Hoops Classic this weekend with three games on the campus of The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. CU meets USC Upstate Friday (4:00 p.m.) and Colgate Saturday (2:00) before facing the host Bulldogs Sunday (3:00).
