BUIES CREEK, N.C. – After helping lead Campbell to its fourth victory in the last five games, Cory Gensler (Cary, N.C./Cary HS) has been named the Big South Conference Come Ready Nutrition freshman of the week.

Gensler went a perfect 8-of-8 from 3-point range in two Campbell wins last week and averaged 14 points and 3.5 rebounds in victories over Johnson & Wales (90-59) and Stetson (81-72).  He set a Gore Arena record for highest 3-point FG percentage in a game when he hit all six of his attempts beyond the arc and scored a career-best 18 points against Johnson & Wales.

Three days later, Gensler had 10 points, including 2-of-2 from long range, in CU's victory over Stetson to help the Camels take a 7-5 record into Christmas break.

On the year, Gensler is averaging 8.2 points (4th o on the team), 3.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 steals, while shooting 47 percent from the floor, 42 percent from 3-point range and 83 percent from the line.  He has started 11-straight contests and has scored in double figures in each of the last four games, six times overall on the year.

Campbell (7-5) opens Big South Conference play Thursday at Longwood (3-8) in a 7:00 p.m. tip-off at Willett Hall. The Camels return home for a 2:00 p.m. start on New Year's Eve against Presbyterian.

Camel Notes: The Camels held 11 of their 12 non-conference opponents below 50% shooting from the field (only UNCW, which was 10th in the NCAA RPI at the time, has made at least 50% of its shots vs. CU)... Campbell tied a school record and set a Gore Arena CU record with 16 three-pointers made against Johnson & Wales... Five Camels scored in double figures against Stetson, the first time this year that many players have had at least 10 points in a game for CU... The nation's 9th-leading scorer, Chris Clemons (22.4 ppg) tallied 22 points, including 9-of-9 from the line (6-of-6 in the last 1:00), in Campbell's 81-72 win over Stetson.  He has scored in double figures in each of CU's 12 contests with nine games of 20 or more points...  Andrew Eudy, the Big South's blocked shots leader, rejected a career-high five attempts in 29 minutes, while adding 7 rebounds in the win over Stetson... Campbell tied a Gore Arena record for fewest turnovers in a game (5) vs. the Hatters... Freshmen Cory Gensler (18 vs. Johnson & Wales) and Marcus Burk (15 vs. Stetson) both hit season scoring highs last week… Gensler's freshman award marks the third time this year that a Campbell has received conference honors. Clemons was named Big South player of the week Nov. 29 and Dec. 5…
