BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Chris Clemons scored 18 points and Campbell never trailed Saturday in a 69-58 Big South Conference win over Presbyterian Saturday at Gore Arena.

Kyre' Hamer added 15 points and Cory Gensler 12 for the Camels (8-6, 1-1), who held the Blue Hose (4-9, 0-2) to 36 percent shooting from the field.

The Camels knocked down 20-of-22 (.909) free throws, 18-of-20 in the second half, and committed only seven turnovers.

Reggie Dillard led Presbyterian with 14 points (all in the second half) and 5 assists, and hounded Clemons – who entered the game as the nation's ninth-leading scorer (22.5) – into a 5-of-13 shooting performance.  Darius Moore added 13, 11 in the first half, and Ed Drew 11 for the Blue Hose.

Campbell led by eight at the break and extended the margin to 14 when Mogga Lado's bucket capped an 11-0 run and put the Camels ahead 42-28 with 13:40 remaining.

PC cut the gap to 59-53 with 1:46 to play on Will Adams' three from the right corner.  After a defensive stop, Adams got a look from the opposite side, but his attempt bounced off, Hamer rebounded; then made a pair from the stripe as the Camels hit 8-of-8 free throws in the last 42 seconds to seal the victory.

With second-leading scorer Shane Whitfield limited to 18 minutes due to foul trouble, Gensler reached double figures for the fifth time in six outings, while Hamer followed Thursday's 19-point effort with a 5-of-10 shooting effort and a perfect 4-of-4 showing from the line.  Andrew Eudy added 7 points and a team-leading 7 rebounds and the Camels finished with a 16-5 edge in points off turnovers.

Campbell entered the game ranked second in the league in 3-pointers made at more than eight per outing, but offset 5-of-17 shooting beyond the arc by doubling-up the Blue Hose in the paint (24-12).

Overall, Campbell shot 44.9 percent (22-49) from the floor and made more free throws than the visitors attempted (14-17).

Campbell led by as many as nine in the opening half before taking a 31-23 lead at the break.  Clemons led the Camels with 8 first-half points, including a one-handed slam in traffic with 21 seconds left.  Gensler added 7 points for Campbell, which shot 10-of-17 from 2-point range and committed just two turnovers before intermission.

Moore led Presbyterian with 11 first-half points, including a trio of threes.  The Blue Hose hit just 9-of-25 from the floor (.360), but made 5-of-9 triples before half time.

Campbell improved to 4-0 all-time in games played on New Year's Eve, 3-0 against Big South foes over the last three years.  The Camels host Charleston Southern Wednesday in a 7:00 p.m. start.
