PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FLA. – Campbell opens its 2017 spring men's golf schedule against a loaded field at the ninth Sea Best Invitational.

Play begins with 36 holes Monday on the par-71, 6977-yard TPC Sawgrass Dye's Valley Course.  The 54-hole event concludes with 18 holes Tuesday. Live scoring will be available at Golfstat.com.

Ranked No.-78 by Golfstat, Campbell is one of 12 schools in the 15-team event that own a top-100 national rating.  The field includes No.-2 Florida, No.-13 North Carolina and five other teams ranked in the national top-50.

Coach John Crooks' Camels are coming off a fall campaign where the team posted four top-five finishes in five outings, including a win at the Old Dominion/OBX Collegiate.

Last year, the Camels tied for seventh at Sea Best on the strength of 15-place finishes from Gaston Bertinotti and Craig Hornberger.

Crooks' lineup will include seniors Bertinotti and Hornberger, sophomores Ray Kraivixien and Jesper Svensson and red-shirt freshman Brett McLamb.

Bertinotti, who turned in a top-30 finish last month at the Latin American Amateur Championship, carries a 72.89 stroke average into the Sea Best event.  He is a two-time All-Big South Conference performer.

Hornberger is coming off a fall campaign where he logged a 73.17 scoring average and tied for eighth at the ODU/OBX Classic.

Kraivixien is ranked seventh nationally in putts on greens in regulation (1.739) and is tied for 11th in fairways hit (.795).  He owns a 71.93 stroke average, ninth-best in the Big South Conference.  Kraivixien tied for fourth at the Golfweek Program Challenge, the best finish of his career.

Svensson takes a 72.92 stroke average into the Sea Best event.  He earned a top-10 showing (T9th) last fall at the Colorado Mark Simpson Invitational.  McLamb, who made his collegiate debut last fall at the Golfweek Program Challenge, owns a 76.0 stroke average.  He won the team's qualifying tournament to earn a place in this week's lineup.
