PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FLA. – Campbell continues its 2017 spring men's golf schedule this weekend in one of the top collegiate events in the country.  Coach John Crooks' Fighting Camels will square off against the likes of UCLA, Tennessee and nine other teams ranked among the nation's top 100 in the 26th edition of The Hayt at Sawgrass Country Club.

The list of top collegiate teams and players to compete in The Hayt is long and includes the likes of Dustin Johnson (Coastal Carolina), Luke Donald (Northwestern), Bill Haas (Wake Forest), Hunter Mahan (Oklahoma State) and Brandt Snedeker (Vanderbilt).

The 54-hole event begins Friday on the par-72, 6966-yard Sawgrass Country Club layout with double tees times starting at 8:30 a.m. and continues through Sunday's final round. Live scoring will be available at

Ranked No.-80 in the nation in the latest Golfstat NCAA ratings, Campbell will start from the 10th tee Friday at 9:42 a.m. paired with No.-75 Louisville and No.-98 Coastal Carolina in the 15-team event.

Coach Crooks' lineup includes senior Craig Hornberger, sophomores Ray Kravixien and Jesper Svensson, plus freshmen Brett McLamb and Max Theodorakis.

A senior from Lancaster, Pa., Hornberger owns a 73.93 stroke average with a pair of top-15 finishes this season.  Kraivixien, a native of Bangkok, Thailand, has produced three top 15 showings and a 72.0 scoring average.

Svensson, who hails from Balsta, Sweden, owns a 72.87 stroke average and one top-10 this year.  McLamb, a red-shirt freshman from Coats, N.C., has played in two events and posted a 75.0 scoring average.  Theodorakis, a product of Danbury, Conn., twice earned Big South freshman of the week honors during the fall and holds the team's lowest stroke average (71.44), which ranks fifth among all Big South golfers.

As a team, the Camels have four top-five finishes in six outings during 2016-17, including a title at the Old Dominion OBX Collegiate.

Set for its 26th year of competition, The Hayt has grown into one of the premier events in collegiate golf. Considered by many the first collegiate major of the season, the event traditionally features a field loaded with some of the nation's top programs. Formerly known as the Queen's Harbor Intercollegiate before being named the MercedesBenz Collegiate Championship, the tournament's prestige grew and grew as the years went along.

In 2007, the event became known as the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational (The Hayt) in recognition of the support provided to the tournament by longtime UNF golf enthusiast and local Jacksonville businessman, John Hayt.
