LAREDO, TEXAS – Campbell continues its spring men's golf season this weekend at the Border Olympics, hosted by the University of Houston.
With a lineup that does not include a senior, head coach John Crooks' Camels will seek to build on a third-place finish at The Hayt.
In a field that includes No.-52 Houston and No.-55 UTEP, Campbell will be paired with the Cougars and Miners along with No.-84 McNeese State in foursomes for Friday's first and second round.
The 76th-ranked Camels have finished in the top 10 in all seven events this year, including five top-5 finishes.
The Camel lineup includes junior Thomas La Morte, who finished second in his last outing at the HeelPack Individual and owns a team-low 71.88 stroke average. The native of Demarest, N.J., has four top-10 finishes in six outings in 2016-17. La Morte stands third in the country in greens in regulation (.784), sixth in fairway percentage (.795) and 13th in putts on greens in regulation (1.764).
Sophomore Ray Kraivixien of Bangkok, Thailand has been the Camels' low individual in their last three events and four times overall this season. He has posted a 71.91 scoring average and two top-10s, including a 2-under 214 to finish fifth at The Hayt.
Fellow sophomore Jesper Svensson of Balsta, Sweden owns a 73.0 stroke average and is coming off a tie for 23rd at The Hayt. Freshman Max Theodorakis has compiled a 72.42 stroke average in four events, while fellow frosh Brett McLamb carries a 75.0 scoring mark into the event.
Friday's first two rounds begin with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start on the par-72, 7125-yard Laredo Country Club layout. The event concludes with Saturday's final round. Live scoring will be available at Golfstat.com.
