Campbell finishes eighth at Redhawk Invitational

UNIVERSITY PLACE, WASH. – Jesper Svensson and Craig Hornberger carded even-round 70s Tuesday and Campbell moved up three spots to finish eighth in the SeattleU Redhawk Invitational at Chambers Bay.

Svensson (74-73-70—217) finished in a tie for 15th place at 5-over par on the layout that hosted the 2015 U.S. Open.  The course was set to par-71 over 7223 yards on Monday before being adjusted to a par-70 layout over 7057 yards for Tuesday's final 18 holes.

A sophomore from Balsta, Sweden, Svensson played his final nine holes 2-under on Tuesday and recorded his third-straight top-20 finish of the season.  Freshman Brett McLamb made five birdies Tuesday and tied for 24th at 7-over 219 (75-72-72—219) for his second top-25 effort in the last three outings.

Hornberger (78-72-70—220) also made five birdies and tied for 32nd at 8-over.  Thomas La Morte (78-73-73—224) tied for 49th, while Ray Kravixien (75-76-78—229) finished in a tie for 68th in the 93-golfer field.

Iowa State (287-285-281—853) held on to its one-stroke lead over No.-35 Northwestern (289-284-281—854) to earn team honors  Host Seattle (860) finished third, followed by Little Rock (865) and BYU (867) to round out the top five.

TCU was sixth (869), Notre Dame seventh (873) and the Camels eighth (302-290-285—877) in the 18-team field. 

Northwestern's Dylan Wu – ranked No.-28 in the country – earned medalist honors at 7-under 205 (66-70-69), one stroke ahead of Santa Clara's Hayden Shieh (70-69-67—206).

Campbell returns to action Apr. 21-23 in the Big South Conference Championship at the Patriot Golf Club in Ninety Six, S.C.
