Justin Franz, a rising senior at Campbell University, has helped the Austin (Texas) Aztex clinch the United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League (PDL) Mid South Division title and earn a spot in the play-offs.
The midfielder from Cedar Park, Texas has dealt three assists in five appearances for the Aztex, who stand 10-1-1 on the season. Franz dealt a pair of assists in last month's 8-0 victory over the El Paso Patriots. He set up the game-winning goal in the season opening triumph against Oklahoma City FC.
A three-year starter in the Campbell midfield, Franz has played in 56 career matches with 47 starts for Coach Steve Armas' Fighting Camels.
He started all 18 matches he played in 2012 with 3 goals and 3 assists for CU, which finished 12-5-2 overall and was ranked ninth in the final NSCAA South Atlantic Region poll.
Franz and the Fighting Camels open the 2013 pre-season schedule at home on Sat., Aug. 17 (7 pm) against Wake Forest. Campbell hosts North Carolina State on Fri., Aug. 30 (7 pm) in the season opener.
