CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Campbell men's tennis has received two weekly honors from the Big South, the conference office announced Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore Gerard Sola has been named the Big South Player of the Week, while freshman Fernando Clemente has been named the Come Ready Nutrition Freshman of the Week.

Sola opened the spring season going undefeated in doubles and singles against the Bucknell Bison. He and doubles partner Jonathan O'Neal held on to win the third flight, 6-4, to clinch the doubles point for CU. Sola made quick work of Bucknell's Max McDonald in the singles flights, winning 6-1, 6-2 en route to a 6-1 win for the Camels.

Clemente made his Campbell dual match debut Sunday against the Bucknell Bison, playing in the sixth singles flight. Facing BU's Ben Gerber, Clemente was able to pull out a win in the longest match of the dual. After taking the first set, 7-5, the second set went to a tiebreaker where Clemente was able to hold on and win, 7-4.

These are the first Big South weekly awards of Sola and Clemente's careers. Last season, Sola earned a spot on the all-conference second team with doubles partner Nicolas Rakitin.

The Campbell men are back in action Friday morning as they take on the Charlotte 49ers in a neutral site matchup as part of the VCU 4-1 Invitational. The match is set for an 8 a.m. start in Richmond, Va. at VCU's Thalhimer Tennis Center. For the most up-to-date information on Campbell tennis, follow @GoCamelsTennis on Twitter.
