BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell men's tennis is set to travel to Richmond, Va. for the VCU 4-1 Invitational. The Fighting Camels will take on the Charlotte 49ers at 8 a.m. on Friday, January 20 inside the Thalhimer Tennis Center. Following that match, CU will face the Bears of Morgan State at 12 p.m.

Most recently, Campbell opened its spring season with a 6-1 win over the Bucknell Bison in a neutral site match in Chapel Hill, N.C. Sophomore Gerard Sola was named Big South Player of the Week after his efforts in the match, picking up wins in doubles and singles. Freshman Fernando Clemente made his dual match debut with a 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) win to earn Freshman of the Week honors.

This will be the first match of the season for the 49ers, who begin a new era under first-year coach Jeremy Feldman. Seniors Josh Aubrey and Carl Solik were named season captains heading into the season. The duo played together last year as doubles partners, winning six matches including a four-match win streak.

The Morgan State match will also be the first of the season for the Bears. MSU was selected to win their division in the MEAC preseason poll after posting an undefeated conference record last season (5-0).

Following the matches, the Campbell men will return for their home-opener as they host Chowan on Thursday, February 2. For the most up-to-date information on Campbell tennis, follow @GoCamelsTennis on Twitter.
