Camels' hot streak continues with win over App. State, 5-2

CONWAY, S.C. -- The Campbell men earned their sixth-straight win in a neutral site matchup over the Appalachian State Mountaineers, 5-2, Saturday afternoon at the Stevens Tennis Complex.

Sophomore Gerard Sola kept his unbeaten season alive, moving to 7-0 in singles and 6-0 in doubles with partner Jonathan O'Neal this spring. Campbell senior Nicolas Rakitin won his sixth-straight singles match, while freshman Fernando Clemente took his fifth-straight in singles play.

The match began with doubles as App. State took an early advantage with Morris/Pavkovich snapping Rakitin/Lukas Schaefer's four-match win streak, 6-1. Campbell fought back as Sola/O'Neal earned their sixth-straight doubles victory on court three, 6-3. Dustin Werner and Lorenz Schwab clinched the doubles point for CU, defeating Maddocks and Webster on court one, 7-5.

Clemente began singles play with a win for the Camels, 6-1, 6-2 over ASU's Campbell Stone. The next win came at No. 2 singles as Rakitin defeated Jack Maddocks, 6-2, 6-1. Schwab clinched the match for Campbell on court 5 as he beat Alex Pavkovich in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. Sola earned Campbell's final win in singles as he held on in a tiebreaker and won, 7-6 (5), 4-6, 10-7, over Milo Bargeron.
