BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Fighting Camels have earned two weekly honors from the Big South, the conference office announced Wednesday afternoon. For matches between Feb. 12-19, Campbell sophomore Gerard Sola has been named the Men's Player of the Week, while Fernando Clemente has earned Come Ready Nutrition Freshman of the Week honors.

Sola has been instrumental in Campbell's seven-match win streak as he refuses to be beaten this season. He holds an 8-0 record in singles and a 7-0 record in doubles with partner Jonathan O'Neal this spring. Last week, Sola took victories in singles over Coastal Carolina's Francesco Migliano, 7-6, 6-3, and Appalachian State's Milo Bargeron, 7-6, 4-6, 10-7. In doubles play, Sola and O'Neal defeated CCU's Migliano/Sebastian, 6-4, and ASU's Brea/Bargeron, 6-3.

Sola is currently riding a 10-match singles winning streak, dating back to Nov. 12, 2016 at the Wake Forest Invitational. He has not lost a match in more than 100 days and is the only player in the Big South that remains undefeated in both singles and doubles this spring season (min. four matches played in each category).

Clemente continued his successful freshman campaign with two singles wins this past week against Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State. After dropping the first set against CCU's Jose Ortega, Clemente fought back to force a third set and ultimately win in a tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-0, 7-6. He made quick work of his singles match against the Mountaineers with a 6-1, 6-2 decision over Campbell Stone. Clemente is currently riding a six-match win streak and owns a 7-1 record in singles play this spring.

This marks the second time this duo has been honored this season. Both athletes were selected by the conference for the same awards on Jan. 18.

Up next, the Campbell men are set to host the ECU Pirates for their second home match of the week. The regional tennis action is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24 at the James R. Nisbet Tennis Center. For the most up-to-date information on Campbell tennis, follow @GoCamelsTennis on Twitter.
