CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- For the second-straight week and third time this season, the Fighting Camels have swept Big South men's tennis weekly awards, the conference office announced Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore Gerard Sola received his third Player of the Week award, while freshman Fernando Clemente earned Come Ready Nutrition Freshman of the Week honors for the third time this year.

Sola earned two wins each in singles and doubles this past week as the Camels took on the UNC Greensboro Spartans and the East Carolina Pirates. Against UNCG, he and doubles partner Jonathan O'Neal picked up the win, 6-4, and Sola earned a quick 6-1, 6-2 win over the Spartans' Jack Burkill. Sola and O'Neal clinched the doubles point for Campbell against ECU with a 6-4 win. In singles play, Sola dropped the first set but ultimately fought back to win, 5-7, 6-3, 6-0, over ECU's Fredric Lehfeldt.

Sola boasts a 9-0 record in singles this spring, as well as an 8-0 record in doubles with O'Neal. He is currently riding an 11-match singles win streak that dates back to Nov. 12, 2016 and remains the only player in the Big South that has yet to lose match this season.

Clemente moved his win streak to seven this past week as he earned victories over UNCG and ECU. On court six against the Spartans' Ian Melnik, Clemente earned the win in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5. Against East Carolina, he quickly won his seventh-straight singles matchup over James Ling, 6-3, 6-1, to make his overall singles record 8-1 this spring.

The Camels put their eight-match win streak on the line Thursday afternoon as the Campbell men travel to Elon, N.C. to take on the Elon Phoenix. The match is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. For the most up-to-date information on Campbell tennis, follow @GoCamelsTennis on Twitter.
