Men's Tennis hosts UC Riverside Tuesday afternoon


BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Fighting Camels are set to host the UC Riverside Highlanders in a Big South/Big West men's tennis matchup on Tuesday, March 28. The match is set to begin at 3:00 pm at the James R. Nisbet Tennis Center.

Campbell (14-3, 4-1 Big South) is a perfect 8-0 at home this season and boasts a 10-2 record against non-conference opponents this spring. The Camels have won five of their last six matches, most recently defeating the Morgan State Bears at home, 5-2. Jonathan O'Neal and Dustin Werner are each riding four-match win streaks in singles, while Fernando Clemente has won back-to-back singles contests. O'Neal and doubles partner Gerard Sola have taken their last two matches in doubles action, totaling 13 wins this season to lead the Camels.

UC Riverside (9-11, 0-0 Big West) travels to the east coast for a six-match road trip. The Highlanders will visit Guilford and North Carolina A&T before coming to Buies Creek to take on the Fighting Camels. After opening the season at 1-7, UCR has won eight of its last twelve dual matches, most recently splitting two in Flagstaff, Ariz. against Southern Utah (W, 4-2) and Northern Arizona (L, 4-0). The Highlanders' top player and senior captain Cooper Bridge was just named the Big West Player of the Week after earning four wins against Bucknell, Gonzaga, Arizona Christian and Southern Utah in a span of three days.

Following the match, the Camels will travel to Boiling Springs, N.C. for a Big South matchup against the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs.
