CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- For the fifth time this season, Campbell freshman Fernando Clemente has been named the Come Ready Nutrition Big South Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday afternoon. For matches between March 20-26, he earned singles wins against Morgan State and Winthrop to earn the award.

Against Morgan State, Clemente squared off against Lucas Krusinski at No. 4 singles. He quickly earned a 6-4, 6-0 win to spark momentum for the Camels that eventually led to a 5-2 victory over the Bears. Taking on Winthrop, Clemente defeated Gabriel Dias 6-1, 7-5 as part of another 5-2 win for CU.

With a win in yesterday's match vs. UC Riverside, Clemente has now amassed 14 singles victories this season. That mark is tied for second in the conference with teammate Gerard Sola and leads all Big South freshmen this spring.

This is the ninth weekly award for the Fighting Camels this season. Clemente is a five-time Freshman of the Week honoree, while Sola has been named Player of the Week three times. Campbell junior Lorenz Schwab was also named the Big South Player of the Week on March 15.

Up next, the Camels are scheduled to take on the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs on Thursday, March 30. The match is set to begin at 3 p.m. at the GWU Tennis Courts. For the most up-to-date information on Campbell tennis, follow @GoCamelsTennis on Twitter.
