Ericka Nesbitt Earns Big South Player Of Week Honors
Nesbitt had an outstanding week for Campbell in hitting .667 with 10 hits and leading the Camels to a 3-1 record and a tournament title at the Camel Stampede. The Salisbury, N.C. native was also named the Co-Most Outstanding Player at the tournament for her outstanding efforts. She posted multiple hits in all four games, including three hits against North Carolina Central and Drexel on March 16. During her busy week she scored six runs, had a pair of doubles, a triple, four stolen bases, 14 total bases, a slugging percentage of .933 and an on-base percentage of .667. She was able to score the game-winning run in the team's victory over Drexel on March 17. She currently leads the team with 12 multiple hit games, 10 stolen bases and 35 hits.
The last Campbell player to earn a weekly honor from a league office came last season when former Camel outfielder Katie Hinton was named the Atlantic Sun's Player of the Week on April 4.
The Camels open Big South Conference play with a game against Winthrop in Rock Hill, S.C. on March 22 at 6 p.m.
