CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Following a doubleheader split on May 4 against Longwood, Campbell knew it would be the No. 2 seed in the Big South Softball Championships presented by Musco Lighting and will open the event on Thursday against Gardner-Webb at 5 p.m. The tournament is hosted by Winthrop and all contests are scheduled to be played at Terry Field.

In just the second year in the Big South since 1994, the Camels had a chance to clinch a share of the regular season title on the final day of the campaign, but fell short against Longwood. Coastal Carolina registered the best record in league games at 19-5 to earn the No. 1 seed.

Campbell sits in the same bracket as Longwood, which earned the No. 3 position in the event. The winner of Campbell/Garnder-Webb and Longwood/Liberty will battle on Friday at 4:30 p.m. with the loser competing in a second game set to begin at 9:30 p.m.

The championship game is a winner-take-all bout on Sunday, May 12 at 12 p.m., broadcasted nationally on ESPNU. All games can be heard with free audio and watched with subscription video on the Big South Network.
