Softball wraps up successful camp
BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Over the past week, the Campbell softball program welcomed over 175 players to its annual summer camp at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium. A brief photo gallery from the camp can be accessed by clicking the link above.
The three-day camp for various ages and skill levels saw 136 participants, while the single-day pitching and catching camp attracted 47 players. A number of assistant and head coaches from around the region provided instruction along with current and former Campbell student-athletes.
"This was a great group of young ladies that we had the privilege of working with this year," said head coach Drew Peterson. "Many of them have come for three or more years now and the word has been spreading about our excellent staff and camp plan."
This was the fourth time in the past five years that the camp reached capacity.
"I hope the community will continue to feel excited about the softball instruction that we offer," said coach Peterson. "We love being a part of the growth of such a great sport in our great state of North Carolina."
Despite three weeks of rain prior to camp, the weather for the weak was beautiful for the camp with mostly sunny skies.
Each year, the three-day camp wraps up with the annual Camel Challenge, which is a team-themed obstacle course.
