Softball travels to Elon for Tuesday contest

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell softball travels to Elon for a single game at 4:30 p.m., Feb. 21, at Elon's Hunt Softball Stadium.

Last season (March 22, 2016) against Elon, Campbell took a 3-0 win at home. Katie Baker struck out seven batters in the complete game, three-hit shutout. She also went 2-for-3 with a RBI during the contest. Melissa Tullar and Lizabeth McCurry tallied RBIs in the win.

Campbell Fighting Camels (6-4)

Most recently, Campbell finished with a 3-2 weekend at the Furman/USC Upstate Classic in Spartanburg and Greenville, S.C. The Camels defeated Iona twice during the weekend, 2-0 and 10-2, and defeated Towson, 4-3, in Sunday's final game.

Amber Schisler led the Camels with a .533 batting average along with eight hits and one home run. Rachel McCollum tallied a team-high .824 slugging percentage and two home runs to give her five on the season.

Madison Herring continued her stolen base streak, as she went 4-for-4 on the weekend. She now has 12 stolen bases in 10 games, compared to 13 in 26 games from her freshman campaign.

In the circle, Amber Schisler, Holly Brooks, and Baker all picked up complete game victories for the Camels. Brooks and Baker made three appearances during the five games and Schisler made her lone appearance in the Feb. 17 win over Iona.

On the season, Schisler leads the Camels with her .484 batting average. She sits second with 12 RBI and two home runs. McCollum is second with her .438 batting average, but first with 15 RBI and five home runs.

Elon Phoenix (6-2)

Elon enters Tuesday's game having won three of its last four games. It most recently split a doubleheader with Virginia, winning game one 6-4 and falling in game two, 7-5.

The only other loss on the season for Elon came in its lone road game of the year, at North Carolina, Feb. 15, 6-2.

Alaina Hall leads the team with 11 hits in 26 at-bats, and is tied with a team-high two doubles. Carey Million leads the Phoenix with two home runs, eight RBI, and three stolen bases.

In the circle, Kenna Quinn has a 3-0 record with a 0.64 ERA in five appearances. She has pitched 22 innings, allowed 19 hits, given up five runs and only two earned. Kiandra Mitchum leads the team with 15 strikeouts in six appearances and 21.2 innings pitched.

As a team, Elon is a perfect 10-of-10 on the base path, led by Million's three. Hall and Kara Shutt have both stolen a pair of bases on the season.

Campbell travels to former Big South foe, Coastal Carolina, for a five-game weekend beginning Friday, Feb. 24. The Camels will take on Cleveland State, Morehead State, Penn State, and Coastal Carolina during the weekend.
