Campbell downs UNCG 4-3 in Wednesday's Pink Game

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth to top UNCG, 4-3, Wednesday evening inside Amanda Littlejohn Stadium.

Melissa Tullar and Taylor Campbell each had a game-high two hits on the day and combined for three RBI.

After the Camels scored once in the bottom of third, they added three runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 4-0 advantage. CU started the inning with four consecutive hits, which scored three runs. 

Following back-to-back singles, Tullar laid down a bunt single that scored Megan Mozingo from third. One batter later, Taylor Campbell knocked in two RBI with a single to deep centerfield.

UNCG answered with three runs in top of the fifth to close the deficit to one, 4-3. Emily Acquaviva scored from third on a wild pitch to open the scoring for the Spartans.

Two batters later, Marisa Sholtes hit a 2-RBI single that scored Rachael McClaskey from second and Jasmine Palmer from third. In the same sequence, Jordan Gontram was tagged out after being caught in a rundown between second and third, to end the inning.

UNCG was held to one hit in the final two innings as Amber Schisler and Holly Brooks shut the door for Campbell. 

Schisler (4-1) picked up her fourth win of the year, scattering three hits in six innings. Brooks collected her first save of the season, needing only 10 pitches in the seventh.

Alicia Bazonski (5-5) took the loss in six innings of work, allowing eight hits and four runs.

Up next, Campbell hosts the Camel Stampede Friday and Saturday, March 3-4, inside Amanda Littlejohn Stadium. Action begins at 10 a.m., with Campbell's first game set for 3 p.m. against Appalachian State.
