Baker breaks school record; Schisler blasts walkoff to end Camel Stampede

BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- The Fighting Camels won their final two games of the Camel Stampede to finish the weekend. Campbell defeated Rider, 5-2, in game one and Norfolk State, 7-6, in game two.

Game one: Campbell 5, Rider 2

Against Rider, senior pitcher Katie Baker broke the all-time Campbell strikeout record in the top of the third. Baker totaled six strikeouts for the game to move her total to 497 for her career. She surpassed Brittany Stanley's record of 493 strikeouts.

Left fielder Jessica Anderson crushed a three-run homer to lead the Camel offense. Madison Herring put up a 2-for-3 performance with an RBI and one run scored. Melissa Tullar also went 2-for-3.

Baker (5-3) picked up the complete game win, allowing one run and two hits. Kaitlyn Kallert (0-2) took the loss, yielding five runs on nine hits. 

Game two: Campbell 7, Norfolk St. 6

Against the Spartans, Amber Schisler's late heroics gave Campbell its 13th win of the season. Leading off in the bottom of the 7th with the score tied at 6-6, Schisler blasted a walkoff moon shot over the right field wall.

Schisler also earned the win at pitcher as she tossed two scoreless, hitless innings of relief. She hit 3-for-4 on the day with three runs scored and one RBI.

Center fielder Taesha DuBoise also had a three-hit outing, with one run scored. Melissa Tullar posted a multi-hit performance as she went 2-for-2 on the evening with an RBI.

Campbell put up four runs during three separate at-bats in the third inning to take a 5-0 lead. Norfolk State answered with back-to-back three run innings to take a 6-5 advantage. 

The Camels scored once in the sixth and once in the seventh to take the 7-6 victory.
