BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell welcomes in-state foe and ACC foe North Carolina to Amanda Littlejohn Stadium Tuesday, March 14 at 5 p.m.
Tuesday's game is the 48th meeting between the two schools, with UNC taking the most recent meeting, 9-6, over Campbell last season in Chapel Hill.
Campbell Fighting Camels (15-13)
Most recently, Campbell finished with a 1-3 record at the Spartan Classic, with the lone win coming against UNCG on Friday, 4-2. The Camels fell in both games to Delaware and finished with a split against UNCG. CU has won two out of its last seven contests.
Amber Schisler tallied four home runs during the last game week and now has eight on the season. She leads the Camels with her .430 batting average and has drawn 19 walks on the year. Madison Herring continues her perfect run in the steals department, with 20 stolen bases in as many attempts this season.
Katie Baker continues to lead CU in the circle this season with her 6-5 overall mark and a 3.70 ERA. The senior hurler has pitched five complete games with two shutouts on the season. She has a team-high 44 strikeouts to pace the staff.
North Carolina Tar Heels (21-5)
UNC comes to Buies Creek having won five straight and 17 of its last 18 contests. The last loss for the Tar Heels came on the road at UNCG, 6-3, March 8th.
Kendra Lynch and Katie Bailiff lead the offense for UNC with their .422 and .412 batting averages, respectively. Lynch leads the Tar Heels with 11 home runs and 10 doubles. UNC has swiped 60 total bags on the season out of 74 attempts, led by Leah Murray's 18-for-23 mark.
Brittany Pickett leads the squad with a 9-0 record and a 2.01 ERA. She has pitched three complete games and has three shutouts on the year. Pickett has fanned 60 batters and only walked nine. Lynch has also seen time in the circle with 53.2 innings pitched, boasting a 7-2 record, and a 3.13 ERA.
Campbell will open Big South play this weekend with a three-game set against defending champions, Longwood. Saturday's doubleheader is set for a 1 p.m. start, and Sunday's game three is scheduled for 1 p.m.
