Camels walkoff in game two for Saturday split

BUIES CREEK, N.C.Megan Mozingo's walkoff single in game two earned a split for Campbell in its Big South opener against defending champion, Longwood, Saturday evening. 

Longwood claimed game one 7-6 in ten innings and Campbell answered with a 10-9 walkoff victory in game two. 

Game one: Campbell 6, Longwood 7 [F/10]

The Lancers scored once in the top of the 10th to take a 7-6 win over Campbell in game one of Saturday's doubleheader.

In the 10th, a wild throw from first to second rolled to the outfield wall and allowed Kasey Carr to score to claim the one-run lead. Longwood scored once in the top of the ninth, but Bailey Bjorson's home run in the bottom half knotted the score and forced the 10th.

Carr went 3-for-3 on the day, scoring twice and Kelsey Sweeney batted 3-for-5 with RBIs in the first and ninth for Longwood.

Taesha DuBoise went 4-for-6 on the day and Megan Mozingo went 2-for-3 with two RBI, scoring once in the fourth for CU. Caroline Smith, Abby Perryman, and Bjorson also tallied two-hit performances, with each scoring once.

Longwood scored twice in the opening inning on RBI singles from Jordan Clark and Sweeney.

Campbell answered back in the bottom of the fourth courtesy of Madison Herring's sac fly to score one. CU took a 3-2 lead in the next inning on back-to-back RBI doubles from Abby Perryman and Mozingo.

Longwood reclaimed the lead, 5-3, with three RBI singles in the top of the sixth inning. The Camels forced extra innings with a pair of RBI singles in the bottom of the seventh.

Elizabeth McCarthy (1-5) picked up the win, her first of the season, in 3.2 innings of work, allowing just two hits and one run.

Amber Schisler (5-3) was tabbed with the loss in 4.2 innings of work, allowing two runs and seven hits.

Game two: Campbell 10, Longwood 9

Mozingo hit a walkoff single off the top of the wall to drive in the game-winning run for Campbell in Saturday's nightcap. 

Campbell scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh, capped off by the sophomore's third hit of the day, a RBI single to score Smith and take the victory over Longwood.

Smith also posted a multi-hit effort in the win, knocking in one in the three-run seventh. Bjorson's lone hit drove in two runs in Campbell's five-run fifth inning. Katie Baker and Mozingo also added runs during the fifth for CU.

Glenn Walters tallied two-RBI for the Lancers, a single in the three-run first. Karleigh Donovan also posted two-RBI with her single in the top of the fourth.

Amber Schisler hit her ninth home run of the year, a two-run shot in the bottom of the first to pull Campbell within one, 3-2. 

Schisler (6-3) picked up the win in three innings of work, giving up one earned and four hits. Elizabeth McCarthy (1-6) took the loss in two innings of work, giving up three runs and four hits.

Sunday's rubber match is set for 1 p.m. inside Amanda Littlejohn Stadium.
