GREENVILLE, N.C. – Ali Ramirez hit a two-run, walk-off home run to lift ECU over Campbell, 6-5, Tuesday night inside ECU Softball Stadium.
Ciara Ervin went 2-for-4, scoring twice and Ramirez went 1-for-2 with two RBI to lead the Pirates.
Caroline Smith's lone hit of the day was her fifth home run of the year, a two-run shot in the top of the fourth that gave Campbell a 4-3 lead. She also drove in another run on a bases loaded fielder's choice in the fifth.
Schisler tallied her 10th home run of the season in the top of the first with a two-run shot that gave Campbell a 2-0 lead.
ECU answered with three runs in the bottom of the third inning. A throwing error allowed the opening run to score and Kacie Oshiro connected on a two-RBI double to give the home side the one-run lead.
Both sides scored once in the fifth to push the line to 5-4 in favor of Campbell. Smith's bases loaded, fielder's choice scored one to give CU a two-run cushion. A hit-by-pitch in the bottom half closed the gap to one, 5-4.
The Pirates reached on a leadoff single and two batters later, Ramirez connected on her fifth long ball of the year to take the win for the Pirates.
Mary Williams (4-7) went four innings in the win, giving up three runs and striking out three. Amber Schisler (6-4) took the loss in 1.1 innings, allowing two runs on three hits.
Campbell has a quick turnaround has it travels to Wilmington, N.C. for a 6 p.m. contest against UNCW.
