BUIES CREEK, N.C. – After a week away from action, Campbell softball returns to the diamond with a three-game, Big South series against Liberty inside Amanda Littlejohn Stadium.
Saturday's doubleheader will start at 1 p.m., with Sunday's game three at 1:30 p.m. Sunday's game will feature Campbell tumblers, free to the first 100 fans at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium.
Campbell Fighting Camels (19-18, 4-2)
Following a pair of tough midweek losses, Campbell took 2-of-3 at Presbyterian last weekend to improve to 4-2 in Big South play. CU won the first two games, 8-4 and 6-1. PC claimed game three 6-3 on Sunday.
Amber Schisler sits first in the conference in four categories, including on-base percentage (0.568) which sits her 8th in the country. Madison Herring's 0.66 stolen bases per game (21 total) places her second in the conference and 33rd Division I.
Katie Baker's 3.71 ERA and eight wins leads the pitching staff. She limits opposing batters to a .238 hitting percentage, with Schisler holding batters to a .241 average. Baker has a team-high 60 strikeouts, Schisler sits in second with 40 and Holly Brooks has 32.
Last season against Liberty, the Flames took 2-of-3 from the Camels. CU's lone win was a 6-0 result in the third game of the series.
Liberty Flames (19-15, 5-1)
Liberty recently completed a trio of midweek contests against No. 19 Tennessee and NC State. The Flames fell to Tennessee 6-0 and 6-1. Liberty took a 5-3 win against NC State.
Tori Zavodny leads the Flames with her .400 batting average. She also has seven doubles and three long balls. Autum and Amber Bishop combine for 48 RBI, including Amber's team-high 29 RBI. She also has a team-best six home runs.
Julia DiMartino leads the pitching staff with her 2.82 ERA in a team-best 19 appearances and a 7-5 record. Chase Cassady has started 15 games for the Flames, going the distance in five, striking out 62 in 69 innings pitched.
Campbell will take on Winthrop April 7-8 in Rock Hill, S.C. Game one is set for 7 p.m. Friday evening, with games two and three scheduled for April 8, beginning at 1 p.m.
