ROCK HILL, S.C. – Campbell scored seven unanswered runs to take a 7-1 win over Winthrop in Friday evening's series opener.
Brooke Ellison went 1-for-1 on the day, driving in the lone run in the bottom of the second, a RBI double to score Madison Templeton. The Eagles (20-18) were limited to just two hits in the contest.
After knocking out just two hits in the first four innings, Campbell pushed across two runs on three hits in the top of the fifth. After a leadoff single from DuBoise, Katie Baker connected on a first pitch home run to left field.
Campbell added to its lead in the sixth on Bjorson's grand slam. Abby Perryman reached on a fielder's choice, Megan Mozingo drew a walk and DuBoise's second hit of the day loaded the bases. On the second pitch of her at-bat, Bjorson launched her second home run of season over the centerfield wall to give CU a 6-1 cushion.
The Camels added its seventh run on Perryman's RBI groundout that scored Christa Hall from third in the seventh inning.
Baker (10-7) picked up her 10th win of the year in a complete game, two-hit outing. She struck out five and allowed one run on the night.
Kiley Majette (11-10) took the loss in 6.0 innings of work, allowing six earned and walking three.
