BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell is set to host Gardner-Webb Friday and Saturday for a three-game Big South series inside Amanda Littlejohn Stadium.
Friday will feature a doubleheader beginning a 4 p.m., a modification of the previously scheduled time, due to inclement weather. Saturday's game three is set for 1 p.m.
Campbell Fighting Camels (26-21, 11-4)
Campbell has won six of its last seven games, including a sweep of its last two Big South series'. Most recently, CU dropped a 1-0 result to North Carolina A&T, Tuesday night inside Amanda Littlejohn Stadium. The Camels were limited to just two hits, as the Aggies' lone run came on a RBI double in the fourth inning.
Amber Schisler leads Campbell in batting average (.405), RBI (40) and home runs (13). Madison Herring continues to lead the efforts on the base paths with 26 stolen bases. Caroline Smith, the current Big South Player of the Week, has a .318 batting average that is third on the team. She is third with 23 RBI and is second in home runs (5) and stolen bases (11).
Katie Baker heads the Campbell pitching staff, leading in ERA (3.25), wins (13) and strikeouts (83). She picked up a pair of wins during the Radford sweep, while allowing just three runs in 15 innings of work. Amber Schisler has a 4.48 ERA with seven wins and 43 strikeouts, second only to Baker on the team.
Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs (13-29, 5-10)
Most recently, Gardner-Webb split a doubleheader at home against College of Charleston, taking game one 5-2 and falling in game two 8-5. In its last conference series, GWU was swept by Liberty at home. The last conference win for the Runnin' Bulldogs came April 12 against Winthrop, 3-2.
Offensively, Alia Booth paces the offense with 27 RBI, three home runs and a .319 batting average. She also leads the team with four triples, as Megan Champion leads the squad with eight doubles. Kaylee Wacaster has a team-best five stolen bases on five attempts.
In the circle, Mackenzie Thompson has a 3.63 ERA, having appeared in 20 games with a 3-12 record. Ashley Wark has appeared in a team-high 24 games and has a 6-5 record and a 3.74 ERA.
Campbell welcomes in-state, ACC foe NC State to Amanda Littlejohn Stadium, Wednesday, April 26 for its final non-conference game of the season. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
