Silina sets 200 free record Friday at CCSA Champs

ATHENS, GA. – Sindija Silina set a school record in the 200 free, leading Campbell Friday at the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Swimming and Diving Championships.

Silina, a junior from Valmiera, Latvia, posted a time of 1:51.62 in Friday's preliminary round, breaking Cheriesse Campbell's 2014 mark. Silina registered a 1:53.07 in the finals, finishing eighth.

Campbell climbed to sixth in the team standings with 398.5 points with one day remaining. Florida Gulf Coast leads the way with 1120.5 points, followed by Liberty (935), Georgia Southern (640.5), Gardner-Webb (600) and Incarnate Word (582.5). UNC Asheville (396), North Florida (273), Howard (184) and VMI (74) round out scoring.

Kelsey Tunstall took seventh in the 400 IM with a time of 4:31.51, while Caroline Clark placed 10th in the 100 fly, clocking in at 56.02 in Friday's finals.

Action resumes Saturday at 10 a.m. with preliminary rounds. Saturday's finals will begin at 6 p.m. at the Gabrielson Natatorium on the campus of the University of Georgia.
