2016-17 Track and Field Schedule

Campbell University track and field head coach Michael Kelly has announced the 2016-17 schedule for the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons.

The schedule features 11 indoor meets and 15 outdoor meets, including both Big South Conference Championships and the Campbell Invitational, set for Saturday, April 8 at the Irwin Belk Track Complex in Buies Creek.

The Fighting Camels will start their indoor track season in Winston Salem, N.C. for the UNCG Early Bird Duals at 8 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4. Campbell will begin the calendar year at the Joe Hilton Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C. on Saturday, Jan. 7. Up next, CU will travel to Lynchburg, Va. for the Liberty Kickoff, set for Jan. 20-21.

Campbell track and field will compete in Winston Salem four more times during the indoor season, taking part in the UNCG Spartan Challenge on Jan. 29, the Camel City Invitational on Feb. 3-4, the JDL Team Challenge on Feb. 9 and the UCS Invitational on Feb. 18.

A handful of student-athletes will compete in the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind on Feb. 3-4. One week later, the Camels will participate in two different meets as part of the team will compete in the Liberty Elite Invitational in Lynchburg, while a few Fighting Camels will travel across the country to take part in the Husky Invite in Seattle, Wash.

The indoor season will conclude with the Big South Championships in Winston Salem on Feb. 25-26, followed by the NCAA Indoor Championships on Mar. 10-11 in College Station, Texas.

The same weekend of the NCAA Indoor Championships, Campbell begins its outdoor season in Wilmington, N.C. at the UNCW Seahawk Invite on Mar. 10-11. The following weekend, the Fighting Camels head to Chapel Hill for the Carolina Relays on Mar. 17-18.

On the weekend of Mar. 24-25, CU will split up and compete in the UNF Spring Break Open in Jacksonville, Fla. as well as the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C. The following weekend (Mar. 31-Apr. 1) features three meets for the Camels as Campbell competes in the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla., the HPU VertKlasse Invitational in High Point, N.C., and the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif.

On Apr. 8, the Fighting Camels will host their annual Campbell Invitational in Buies Creek. The event will take place at the Irwin Belk Track, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Following the home meet, CU will head in different directions once again. On Apr. 14-15, a collection of Campbell athletes will head to the west coast to compete in the Mt. Sac Relays in Los Angeles, Calif. while the rest of the team will compete in the UVA Challenge in Charlottesville, Va. The Camels will come back together the next weekend for the Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C. on Apr. 21-22.

On Apr. 30, Campbell will send student-athletes back to Palo Alto, Calif. for the Peyton Jordan Invite. Three days later, CU will compete in the Liberty Twilight Qualifier in Lynchburg, Va. on May 3.
The Big South Championships are set for May 10-12 in Charleston, S.C. Following the conference meet, the Camels will take part in the Aggie Last Invitational in Greensboro, N.C. on May 14 in preparation for the NCAA meets.

The Preliminary Round of the NCAA Championships will be hosted in Lexington, Ky. on May 25-27, and the 2017 outdoor track season will end once again in Eugene, Ore. on June 7-10.
