Three Camels receive Big South honors following UNC Open

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Campbell's indoor track and field squad has earned three Big South weekly honors, the conference office announced Thursday afternoon. Sophomore Meshack Kipruto was named the Men's Track Athlete of the Week, while senior Davian Rhodes was selected as the Men's Field Athlete of the Week. On the women's side, freshman Marta Segarra-Dionis was chosen as the Women's Field Athlete of the Week.

Kipruto recorded two first-place finishes this past weekend at the Art and Linda Maillet UNC Open. In the men's mile, he ran a 4:14.74 for the fastest time in the Big South this season. In the 3000m, Kipruto placed first with a mark of 8:35.11, good for the second-best time in the conference.

Rhodes continued his high jump success in Chapel Hill with a mark of 2.06m. In the current Big South rankings, that mark is the highest by one centimeter over Charleston Southern's Frankie Thomas.

Segarra-Dionis also holds the conference's top mark in the high jump on the women's side. In the past two meets, the Terrassa, Spain native has jumped 1.70m to place first overall.

Up next, the indoor squad will travel to Lynchburg, Va. for the Liberty Kickoff, with events starting at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 21. For the most up-to-date information on Campbell track & field, follow @GoCamelsRun on Twitter.
