Campbell indoor track & field continues the season at the Liberty Kickoff this weekend in Lynchburg, Va. The Camels will be competing all day long, beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 21 inside the brand new Liberty Indoor Track Complex.

Most recently, CU had three athletes receive Big South weekly honors after a strong showing at the Art and Linda Maillet UNC Open last weekend. Meshack Kipruto was named the Men's Track Athlete of the Week, with first-place finishes in the mile and the 3000m. Davian Rhodes was selected as the Men's Field Athlete of the Week after jumping a 2.06m in the high jump, the highest mark in the conference this season. Freshman high jumper Marta Segarra received Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors after clearing 1.70m for the second time this season.

The Camels will have a trio of men's distance runners making their season debuts this weekend. Following an All-American cross country season, sophomore Lawrence Kipkoech and senior Amon Terer will run the men's mile and the men's 1000m for their first indoor action of 2017. CU also welcomes freshman Amon Kemboi who will compete in those same events. On the women's side, Joan Maritim is set to make her season debut, running in the women's 1000m.

The Liberty Kickoff features six Big South teams in Campbell, Gardner-Webb, High Point, Liberty, UNC Asheville and Winthrop. CU currently holds the conference's top marks in 11 events this season and will look to build on that tally this weekend.

Following the meet, the Camels will prepare to compete in the UNCG Spartan Challenge at the JDL Fast Track in Winston Salem, N.C. The one-day meet is set for a noon start on Sunday, January 29. For the most up-to-date information on Campbell track and field, follow @GoCamelsRun on Twitter.
