CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Campbell junior Kelvin Kirui has been named the Big South Men's Track Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday morning.

Kirui posted the top time in the men's 800m this past weekend, running a 1:53.25 at UNCG's Dual Meet Madness, just .01 seconds away from the Campbell record. That mark was converted to 1:51.66 for track size, which currently gives Kirui the top time in the Big South this season.

This is the first weekly honor of Kirui's career and the fourth for the Camels this season. Meshack Kipruto (Men's Track Athlete of the Week), Davian Rhodes (Men's Field Athlete of the Week) and Marta Segarra-Dionis (Women's Field Athlete of the Week) were all honored by the conference on January 19.

Campbell continues its indoor season this weekend in Winston Salem, N.C. as CU competes in the Camel City Elite Invitational, hosted by the JDL Fast Track. For the most up-to-date information on Campbell track & field, follow @GoCamelsRun on Twitter.
