Indoor track competes at Camel City Elite Invitational this weekend

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Camels are set to travel to Winston Salem, N.C. for the second-straight weekend, this time competing in the Camel City Elite Invitational at the JDL Fast Track. The two-day meet is scheduled for Feb. 3-4 with events beginning at 1 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Most recently, CU competed at the JDL Fast Track for UNCG's Dual Meet Madness on Saturday, January 29. The Camels took home 14 top-three finishes on the day, highlighted by four Big South-leading performances from Janai Scott (200m), Deonica Reid (60m), Lilla Juhasz (60m hurdles) and Kelvin Kirui (800m). Following the meet, Kirui was named the Big South Men's Track Athlete of the Week after running a 1:53.25 in the 800, which was just .01 seconds shy of the Campbell record.

The Camel City Elite Invitational will begin with the women's 1 mile run at 1 p.m. on Friday, while day two begins at 9 a.m. with the women's 200m. Live results will be provided throughout the meet here. Runnerspace will be live-streaming the event, which can be accessed with a Runnerspace +plus subscription.

Following the meet, the Camels will head back to Winston Salem on Thursday, Feb. 9 for the JDL Team Challenge before going separate ways to the Liberty Elite Invitational in Lynchburg, Va. and the Husky Invite in Seattle, Wash. the following weekend.
