Juhasz, Terer earn Big South weekly honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Campbell seniors Lilla Juhasz and Amon Terer have each been named the Big South Track Athletes of Week, the conference office announced Wednesday morning. This marks the second time this season that Campbell has earned multiple weekly honors from the conference.

Juhasz is coming off a stellar performance at the Camel City Elite Invitational. The Rabapaty, Hungary native ran in all three rounds of the 60m hurdles, getting faster each time until she clocked an 8.40 to place first overall in the finals. That time was the fastest for Juhasz in 2017 and the top mark in the Big South this season. In addition, Juhasz ran her fastest 60m dash of the year at 7.71, missing the final cut by just .02 seconds.

Terer made history this past weekend as he ran alongside some of the top athletes in the country in the Camel City Men's 3K, sponsored by Salem Sports. Terer was invited to compete in the race by the JDL Fast Track following an All-American cross country season, and he delivered nicely for CU. Terer ran the 3000m race in 7:59.92 to shatter the Campbell record (previously held by Lawrence Kipkoech) by more than 15 seconds. That mark was converted to 7:54.40 due to track size, which currently gives Terer the sixth-fastest time in the NCAA.

These are the fifth and sixth weekly honors for the Fighting Camels this season. Campbell junior Kelvin Kirui was named the Big South Men's Track Athlete of the Week on Feb. 1, while Davian Rhodes (Men's Field Athlete of the Week), Marta Segarra-Dionis (Women's Field Athlete of the Week) and Meshack Kipruto (Men's Track Athlete of the Week) were all honored on Jan. 19.

Up next for CU, the Camels will send two small groups to two different meets next weekend. One group will head to New Mexico for the Don Kirby Invite, while the other will head to the Iowa State Classic, both scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Feb. 10-11.
